Beginning in 1917 Sims Metal Management, has grown to be the largest scrap metal and electronics recycler in the world. Sims Metal Management operates the leading metal recycling companies in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. We buy a wide range of metals both ferrous and non-ferrous, from a large range of sources, including the public, metal dealers, auto wreckers, demolition firms, farmers and others who generate obsolete metal as well as manufacturers who generate industrial metal.

Sims Metal Management operates a secondary aluminium smelter, electronic recycling and asset recovery plants. In addition, the Company is a 50% shareholder in LMS Generation Pty Ltd, a pioneer and leader in the field of power generation from landfill gas. Sims Metal Management is also a joint venture partner in Australian Refined Alloys, which operates battery recycling plants. We also process ferrous metals for resale through a variety of methods, including sorting, shredding, cutting, torching, baling or breaking. After processing, ferrous recycled metal is sold to end users such as electric arc furnace mills, integrated steel mills, foundries and brokers.
